Chimney Cottage

Sleeps 2. Kitchenette, dining area, lounge, upstairs bedroom, Queen size bed, bath/shower ensuite.

Exclusively yours—for those couples on a special, special time away.  The ground floor features exposed beams, natural blue stone walls, views over green pastures and fragrant gardens, piano, dining area and lounge couch in front of the blazing log fire in the awesome six storey chimney.  Upstairs features the quaint loft bedroom with an authentic Half-Tester bed and exclusive Laura Ashley wallpaper.

“We wanted Medieval charm & got it!  Paul loved playing the piano, beautifully tuned.  Thank you”; and  “A lovely spot to spend the 1st night of our honeymoon in Tasmania.  Thank you for the gorgeous cheese, wine & port.  WE loved the open fire too. Just gorgeous!  Thank you for your hospitality”,  wrote the young love birds.

Meander Cottage

Sleeps 4. Kitchenette, sitting room with dining table, Queen size bed, 2 single beds, bath/shower ensuite.

Enter through the French Doors and be entranced by the sitting room with winding staircase, exposed beams, lovely blue velvet Club chairs and gate-leg dining table.  From the Queen Half-Tester bed guests have views into the leafy garden through the arched window. Upstairs teddy bears repose sadly (they’re lonely & waiting for a cuddle) on the two cute single Austrian Sleigh Beds.

Convenient loft windows open to allow the rose fragrant breeze to circulate throughout.

“What a wonderful walk back into history.  Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful property.  It is great that you are preserving it for all to enjoy.  Best Wishes” and “Meander Cottage was so warm and cosy!  I loved the sweets and goodies you provided.  Thank you once again”, a twelve year old guest neatly wrote.

The Miller‘s Suite

Sleeps 5. Tea/cooking facilities, two bedrooms, vestibule, Lounge/Dining and Shower/powder room.

Named to honour the pioneer widow, Mrs. Mary Ann Horne, the Suite is within the Mill on the first floor and makes a powerful statement of an earlier time—a time of mystery, intrique and refined grandeur.  Its alluring décor and furnishings take people’s breath away, some even utter a scream of delight on entering this ‘piece de resistance ’,  “Absolutely fabulous! Perfection, to the last detail.  A true Tasmanian  treasure. Well done “; exclaimed Paula in raptures.

It features rich earthy colours, cedar and Tasmanian blackwood panelling, hunting plates and pheasant, a grand four-poster bed in the large master bedroom and a colonial iron and brass bed in the second bedroom.  The Suite’s Library specializes in interesting old books and novels for guests to peruse at their leisure.  “Anne ……I share your vision.  This is a most beautiful place—absolute magic!! The best 30th Wedding Anniversary!!” added a visionary guest.

The Greenwood Floor (Second Floor)

Sleeps 8. Queen size & single beds. A traditional English style B&B with share bathrooms, lounge, dining and tea/cooking facilities. Great for groups or large families.

Named in honour of  acclaimed leather sculptor, Garry Greenwood who created Bowerbank Mill Gallery in the early 1970’s and used the second floor as the artisan’s workshop/studio.

This area allows the guest to enjoy a touch of the old fashioned B&B experience with shared facilities in a home. But each room has been given the same attention to detail as the rest of the Mill and has their own individuality.

And the light, so mesmerizingly beautiful — especially in the winter months, is reflected into the rooms creating a myriad of colours from the painter’s palette—an artist’s delight—guests bring your camera or paints and brushes.

“Gracious hosts……Generous breakfasts, home made jams, large comfy beds & picture postcard scenery…….with the colour of autumn—what else could you ask for?”; an appreciative guest wrote.

Fine Art Gallery & Gift Shop

The Fine Art & Craft Gallery and Gift shop at Bowerbank Mill B&B has a long history, having been created by Garry Greenwood, an acclaimed leather worker and sculptor, in the early 1970’s.  His studio/workshop was on the second floor (today part of the B&B) where he spent much of his time developing his creativity as a leather artist.

The Gallery was the show room for his completed works—an amazing collection of  unique playable leather instruments, sculptured leather shoes, theatrical head pieces, and life size women’s legs wearing mesh stockings.

The next owners, the Maxwells, continued with the Gallery and today with the current owners, Anne and JD, the same inspiring and creative spirit is present, showcasing talented  artists and craftspeople who reside in Tasmania.

Also the Gallery stocks an interesting selection of jewellery and Australian manufactured  merino wool garments/thermals that are easy ware, non itch and machine washable.  Lay-bys and credit cards accepted.
